Google is adding a direct Google Business Profile connection to Gemini and introducing Business notebooks. For a small business, that means Gemini can work from more of the information customers already see and the work your team already manages.
If you are moving from one AI tool to a coordinated team, read our guide to Symphony by Wix for small business for a current example of what that model looks like.
In its official announcement on June 10, Google said the features would roll out globally during June. The company described a Business Profile connection, contextual recommendations, and a notebook that can reference chats, sources, a website, and the profile.
What the Business Profile connection does
Google Business Profile is the information customers find in Google Search and Maps. It can include hours, services, photos, questions, reviews, and actions such as calls or direction requests.
Google says Gemini will be able to use that business context to help owners review performance, draft replies to customer reviews, and update parts of the profile. The company also says Gemini can surface gaps, such as unanswered customer questions or seasonal hours that have not been set.
Useful first tasks for a small business
Review what customers are asking
Ask Gemini to group recent questions and reviews by theme. You may find that people keep asking about the same service, appointment rule, or location detail. That is a better starting point than guessing what your profile should say.
Draft a reply, then check the facts
A tailored draft can save time when several reviews need a response. Read every draft before posting it. Check the customer's actual concern, remove private details, and make sure the reply sounds like your business.
Look for profile gaps
Ask what information appears incomplete or out of date. Confirm your hours, service area, booking path, and most important customer questions. A profile update is useful only when it matches the real operation behind it.
What Business notebooks are for
Google describes Business notebooks as a focused place for chats and sources, with the Business Profile and website included in the context. The goal is continuity. You do not have to re-explain the business every time you return to a project.
A notebook could hold the material for a seasonal campaign, a service update, or a review-response process. Keep the source material current. If your hours or policies change, update the source before asking Gemini to draft anything for customers.
What Google has not promised
The announcement does not mean Gemini will run a business without review. It does not remove the need to check public updates, confirm customer facts, or decide who can change the profile. It also does not guarantee that every recommendation will fit your local market.
Treat the connection as a way to reduce repeated work. Keep final control over public claims, hours, prices, availability, and customer replies. The more visible the change, the more important the review step.
A simple way to start
Begin with one question your team already answers every week. Ask Gemini to summarize the relevant reviews or customer questions. Then compare its answer with the live profile and your approved business information.
Next, use the result to make one small improvement. Update a missing detail, prepare a response draft, or write a short internal checklist. Keep a person responsible for the final change. That makes the workflow easy to review and easy to repeat.
